Me, I think it's his most tuneful record since 69 Love Songs, and that's all I ask out of the guy. Goddamn, the way "Too Drunk to Dream" makes a hook out of "shit-faced" is enough to die for. And, as a long-time Jesus and Mary Chain fan, I can dig the conceit of the record's sound.<BR/><BR/>I'm not too worried about the thematic problems you cite, since I've only bothered to pay attention to a couple of the lyrics so far, and they're clever enough, as usual.Steve Picknoreply@blogger.com
