The House Next Door

The title reeks of high concept and conjures up visions of the sort of wink-wink, nudge-nudge self-referentiality now common to a good many animated features (especially those from the Dreamworks stable), so it's something of a relief to discover that Kung Fu Panda is a brisk and breezy amalgam of martial arts homage and "believe in yourself" enlightenment—hardly a groundbreaker, but still impressive in a good many of its particulars.
