Aw man. My Joe Gideon died.

I sure hope he and Bob Fosse are working on something great up there. I'm going to have to watch All That Jazz and Jaws in his honor. R.I.P. Mr. Scheider.

He was a wonderful actor, and what a filmography – French Connection, Klute, Marathon Man, All That Jazz… And, of course, Jaws. His face a tapestry of conflicting emotions, replete with the ravines of age and experience, one subtle smile used to communicate so much. A great actor in every sense of the word, Charon will need a bigger boat.

Here is an advert with the late actor, which readers outside of Britain might not have seen before.

Very underappreciated actor, and in some of my favorite films from the 70s. Last time I saw him was just last year on Criminal Intent, and he was great as ever.
