1. "NBC moving from Burbank to L.A." Not a long move for Leno and others in Burbank, but it will be for Conan, who'll take over on The Tonight Show in 2009.
["This is part of a long-term strategy on the West Coast, centralizing our businesses in one location in Los Angeles," said Tom Smith, senior vice president of West Coast Real Estate for NBC Universal. The new facilities - part of an $800million skyline-altering development expected to be completed in 2011 - will be located adjacent to the Universal City Red Line subway station and feature an environmentally friendly West Coast news headquarters.]
2. Nick Broomfield's upcoming Battle for Haditha has Matt Sanchez rolling his eyes and making loud guffaws in his post, A Tale of Two Massacres.
["No surprise who the villain will be: Marines. He told Time Out magazine, 'Their (Marines') standard operating procedure rules are so f---ing hard-core. If, for example, a house is described as 'hostile,' then you just kill everyone in the house. It doesn't matter if it contains 2-year-olds or the elderly.'"]
3. King of the Zombies. Rob Humanick continues through 31 Days of Zombies with at The Projection Booth.
["Ultimately, it is more of a comedy than a horror, with the skittish antics of the inimitable Moreland taking center stage as he gets riled up over every minute happening and unexplained shadow. A whiff of racism lingers over the film during these more purportedly PC times but Moreland's oft-reviled comedic style is not unlike a one-man Abbott & Costello routine, his snappy delivery of dialogue and subtle gags of body language sporadically amusing - if a tad dated - in their execution."]
4. Don't Tell Mom Samantha Who? Is Dead. At Television Without Pity, House contributor Sars analyzes Christina Applegate's new sit-com by comparing it to a known factor.
["...Applegate's back in primetime with Samantha Who?, playing the eponymous shallow bizzotch who must rebuild her life after a hit-and-run leaves her with retrograde amnesia. Is the show worth watching? Will it do well? Hard to say -- but in our opinion, it all depends on how it stacks up in a head-to-head with Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter's Dead. Let's dig in, shall we?"]
5. Variety Lights. Dan Schneider looks at the 1/2 in 8 1/2.
["...the most manifest thing about the film is its similarity to the Hollywood film All About Eve, released the same year- albeit it is a bit grittier, more realistic and less melodramatically star-driven, and its influence on Fellini’s own later La Strada, as well as presaging many Fellini trademarks and tics."]

Wow -- I can't believe that Fellini, of all people, said that.
And Marlon Brando probably believed in eating right and exercising.
One thing I like about the gorilla video (which isn't my favorite) is just how willing it is to play against the usual online video time-span, which says that you need to get the funny stuff out from the first. Anything that meanders must be clicked through. On to the next thing.
But this spends an inordinate amount of time watching an obviously fake gorilla while we wait to see what happens. This makes the joke that much better when it finally comes, but there must have been some worry the audience would click through.
Not to tie it in to the ongoing blog-a-thon, but there's something about the gorilla's close-up that makes the whole thing work. You're thinking, "What's this gorilla doing? What's happening? Why am I watching this?" simply because the gorilla fills the frame so dramatically (for lack of a better word).
