I'm heading down to the RiverRun International Film Festival in Winston-Salem, North Carolina this weekend for two showings of my first feature "Home," which is still playing on the festival circuit. (For information, click here.) I look forward to festivals because they give me an excuse to mainline movies for two or three straight days and then talk about them with people who are not easily geeked out. The RiverRun schedule looks like a bonanza. There's a lot of stuff in the lineup that I haven't even heard of, much less seen. One of the titles that I have seen already is James Bai's haunting modern Frankenstein movie "Puzzlehead," a low budget sci-fi psychodrama that can stand proudly alongside any previous film adaptation of the novel. I will review it in NYPress next week.

Good luck, and enjoy yourself, Matt. I know you know you've made a good film, and I look forward to hearing about the festival and how well it will surely be received. I hope to have my own thoughts on Home up next week as well.
Thanks, Dennis. I look forward to hearing what you liked, and more importantly, what you didn't like. I'm in this for the long haul, and I'm already planning the next one, so beat me up a bit if you think I need it.
My gloves are on! And I look forward to seeing the film again this weekend. I'll be there in spirit with you, for what that's worth.
You're going to tobacco land?! That's like me going to the House of Halle Berry Lookalikes! Sounds like you'll have more temptations than there were at Motown.
Good luck at the screenings and remember: Joe Camel is NOT your friend!
Good luck with your film screening!
I'm glad to hear that Puzzlehead is being seen outside of NYC —I saw it at last year's Tribeca Film Festival and enjoyed it quite a lot.
Odie: Good looking out. I need to stay away from bars, though. That's when my will weakens.
Andrea: Glad you liked PUZZLEHEAD. It's one of the best horror movies I've seen in a while. There's a sense of purpose in every frame.
Sounds cool! Have a great trip.
Matt---any way for us poor bastards who missed it at the Pioneer (all set to go, and then my parents came to town!) to see it again? Maybe future showings in NYC, or some way to buy the DVD from you?
A commerical DVD is in the works and hopefully will be available for sale or rent later in the year. I could be persuaded to part with an advance screener or two, since I have a few left.
Good luck, Matt, I've watched the DVD and I liked it a lot! Totally Altman-ish! But surprisingly sweet too! (I've grown so pessimistic that I was expecting a nihilistic, dark ending where someone sets the house on fire and everyone dies)
Swifty: Thanks. Somebody suggested that ending, but my landlord said no.
Matt,
Good luck and enjoy. I too would like to see Home since I missed it at the Pioneer (out of town) too. I saw Puzzlehead at Tribeca and did like it. Creepy. Look forward to checking the film out at some point in the future.
pray tell, to which what sort of "persuasion" are you referring?
Brett: Do you own a Viking helmet?
Matt, I am envisioning you in your newly acquired Viking helmet from Brett, singing "Kill da Wabbit! Kill Da Wabbit! Kill da Wabbit!!"
Wait, did you mean a Minnesota Vikings helmet?
As I type this, you are attending the big 10 AM screening of HOME down in Nor' Cah'lina. I hope it's going well, and that you didn't run into that crazed superhero, O for Odienator.
Break a leg!
